It all begins with our Gordon Setter Rescue committee organized by Barb Young-Tompkinson. She temporarily gives rescue dogs a home at her kennel until they are ready to move to their new home. Barb helps with locating Gordon Setters that are in need, and organizes a network of volunteers to transport the dogs to/from her kennel.

The dogs are bathed, groomed, and provided with a health check by our club. Their social behavior is evaluated along with their obedience skills. Gradually their personality shines through, they gain confidence in their surroundings and companions.

After several weeks or months, Barb has helped nurture the dogs to good health, along with retraining of appropriate social behaviors with other dogs and people. It is now time to make contacts to determine the proper placement for each particular Gordon Setter.
